The Victoria Falls Hotel is jointly operated by African Sun (Private) Limited and Meikles Hospitality (Private) Limited and is located in probably the loveliest location in Victoria Falls, it overlooks the magnificent Batoka Gorge and the Victoria Falls Bridge, where people from all over the world come to bungee jump off the bridge.

The hotel is popularly known as “the grand old lady of the Falls”, as it was originally built in 1904 and is classified as being situated within the Victoria Falls National Park, which is a world heritage site.  As well as being one of the most historic hotels in the area, it is a member of the exclusive Leading Hotels of the World and is one of only three 1S0-accredited hotels in Zimbabwe.

The Victoria Falls Hotel has recently been redecorated and refurbished, but has continued to keep the old world charm of the Edwardian-style décor, while adding all the modern day conveniences travelers now require. As soon as you enter the Victoria Falls Hotel you are met by friendly and efficient staff, who are immaculately turned out.  They will ensure you are checked in quickly and professionally.  While being escorted to your room you may pass through the Bulawayo Room, which is the private Residents’ Lounge, and adjoins the main Palm Lounge and exudes traditional warmth and comfort. There are complimentary newspapers and reading materials arranged around the room for the convenience of the guests, with a card table and interesting artefacts making up the décor of this fascinating room.

There is not one, but THREE restaurants available at the hotel, from the Stanley Terrace, located on the large patio that runs nearly the length of the front of the hotel, to the world famous Livingstone Room, where 7 course meals are served, to Jungle Junction located at the bottom of the lush gardens.   Each restaurant is known for something different and unique, with the Stanley Terrace being best known for its famous High Tea, while the Livingstone Room was voted the seventh finest Restaurant in the World by The Daily Meal in 2013. Jungle Junction is our personal favorite with a divine luxury buffet on offer and unforgettable nightly entertainment provided by various ethnic groups, including the spiritual, masked Makishi, which epitomizes the spirit of Africa.

The Victoria Falls Hotel has delightful gardens, with huge ancient mango trees growing around the grounds. The fruit of which are used to make their signature mango daiquiri at Stanley’s Bar off the patio.  It is common to see warthogs grazing on the manicured lawns while on your way to the stunning residents’ swimming pool.  There is even an open-air bar service at the pool, offering a full range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and also a tempting barbeque, light meals and snacks, which are served under several thatched gazebos. There are live ethnic entertainers performing every day at lunch time. The hotel has a wide variety of rooms and suites on offer, enabling each guest to choose an accommodation option that best suits their family. There are 161 rooms/suites in total.
